Driver Training and Safety

 Our drivers are highly qualified professionals. They are trained to both drive buses safely and efficiently as well as to provide the highest level of customer service to our clients.

We work to teach, supervise, monitor and maintain consistent standards by having regularly scheduled meetings where safety and/or customer service training is provided. Drivers are also sent to Michigan Center for Decision Driving (MCDD) where drivers spend the day to learn or review decision driving techniques both in the classroom and in actual hands-on activities using the facility's skid course. Drivers are also trained and certified in CPR. Successful candidates must then be able to pass a company paid medical physical, a pre-hire drug test, as well as a stringent behind-the-wheel training program on equipment and procedural operations before being assigned to duty.

All employees during their employment with Checker are then subject to random drug and alcohol testing, annual criminal record checks, and driving record reviews to make sure they continue to be the best qualified employee for the job.

Do your coaches come equipped with video players?

Yes, most of our charter coaches come with DVD players.


Is there room to store luggage and other items?

Yes. Our charter coaches have three luggage bays, capable of storing luggage for the number of passengers the coach was built for.


How do I go about booking a coach for my group?

Step one: call or e-mail our charter department and inquire about availability.  Having your itinerary in mind is important.  You can also check availability through the website. 

Step two: You will receive a “quote” from us via regular or e-mail. This has the details of your trip, and the rate for the charter. (Please carefully check it to make sure it has all the details correct, because unless you advise us otherwise, this will be the information we will use to operate your trip). A quote will hold the date for two weeks pending receipt of your deposit. If you do not send a deposit, the quote is automatically cancelled.

Step three: Send us the required deposit within two weeks. The due date is on your quote. For quotes sent in regular mail, there is a handy cut-off at the bottom of the quote for you to attach to your check when sending it in so it is properly credited.

Step four: Upon receipt of your deposit, we will send you a contract via regular or e-mail.. The balance of your payment is due two weeks prior to your departure date. Please refer to the contract number when sending in your check.


When is the final payment due?

Your final payment is due 30 days prior to your scheduled departure date. Charters not paid in full when due are subject to cancellation.


Do you accept checks or money orders?

We accept organization or personal checks for deposit only, and only if the date of the trip is at least one month later than the check date. For your final payment, we accept certified checks or money orders.


Do you accept credit cards?

Yes. We accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express for both deposits and final payments. Ask one of our reservation agents at the time of booking if you wish to take advantage of this service. Processing fees of 3% will be applied.
